In the Indian Premier League (IPL), Royal Challengers Bangalore secured their fifth victory by defeating Gujarat Titans by five wickets. Playing at their home ground in their seventh match, Bangalore chased down a formidable target of 206 runs with seven balls to spare, losing five wickets in the process. After losing the toss, Gujarat batted first and posted a score of 205 for 3 in their allotted 20 overs. Their innings was highlighted by opener Sai Sudarshan’s century, who scored 100 runs off 58 balls, including 11 fours and 5 sixes, propelling the team to a strong total.
Apart from Sudarshan, Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler contributed 32 and 25 runs, respectively. Washington Sundar added 19 runs, and Jason Holder remained unbeaten with a 23-run innings. In response, Bangalore was led to victory by Virat Kohli’s impressive knock of 81 runs. Kohli struck 8 fours and 4 sixes in his 44-ball innings. Devdutt Padikkal also played a crucial role, scoring 55 runs off 27 balls with 2 fours and 6 sixes, while Krunal Pandya remained unbeaten on 23 runs from 12 balls.
With this win, Bangalore is now in second place on the points table with 10 points. Punjab leads the table with an unbeaten 11 points. Rajasthan Royals also have 10 points.
